Santa Rosa, CA - February 26, 2008 (RapidPressRelease)  - An interesting and unique art form has been created by Santa Rosa, California artist Robert M. Tutone.  Dubbed "MirralsTM", the process begins with a solid piece of glass or mirror.  The basic design is then sand-carved and/or chipped into the surface and coated in silver to produce a reflective, three dimensional image, which is somewhat surrealistic.  Because of the techniques used, it is impossible to achieve the exact same effects twice, making each piece truly one of a kind.  All pieces are signed and dated.

As Mr. Tutone explained, either the front or backside of the glass can be chipped, with the latter producing the most dramatic results.  The backgrounds can be mirrored, colored or clear. Originally using only silver, he is now exploring the use of other metals and combinations with color.  To compliment the unique visual qualities of his works, Mr. Tutone is reluctant to use traditional framing, preferring to surface-mount his pieces or project them from the wall using stand-offs....
